184. Venture Forth

Feels like being stuck
between two worlds.

One that existed always.
having its own defined legend
its own map.
discovering new to me
old to you places
still yields exhilaration
but not totally
leaving one of us nostalgic at
what it felt like
to see everything
for the first time.

The other world
is this place forged seemingly at random
were the lines on the map
dictate what we can see.
Where anything
or everything
as of yet
is possible.

Imagination lends half-credible
mostly unrealistic expectations
to worlds like this
giving them more power
than they could possibly handle
more speculation than they deserve
and an ability to fill us
with too much hope
as we venture forth
to explore them.
