The Last Gasp

Let’s have it then
one last gasp
one final breath.
The hand reaching from beyond the grave
to touch to grasp pull down.
If there are secrets in these chambers
meant for me to know
give them all.
If there are moments yet left to tell
pray line them up for me to experience
like glasses of wine
and I will drink
remembering every last single second
no matter the occasion.
Just don’t let me vanish from plain sight
having regrets or dreams broken
pushing on against overwhelming odds
to say
“But if only.”
“I’d really liked to have…”
Because here is only what you make of it
and now is what will always be.
