The Moment of a Sunset

Standing by the docks at the passing of the day
we are joined
with the trees piling over hills
in the soon to be moonlight
having whispered goodbyes to a vanishing sun.
And there is a breeze that bothers the water’s surface
and there are moments when you can forget yourself completely
thinking just for that moment
that the world is no bigger or smaller
than this one thought.

That all worldly complexities have broken down
and that the time spent before and after will be
as meaningless
as lost
or hopeful
or pure
or whatever emotion you’ll ever know
or ever have known
but only of course for that one moment
when simultaneously
every thing you have ever known exists
and there will be no after
and there has never been a before.

There is only this
and nothing more.
