First Impressions

She looked scared as ever
smaller than most.
A kitten on the corners of the room
having been made aware of her stature
and painfully accustomed
to the largess of the world.

In this memory
I led
and she followed
on a night that was to be
one of the most important
of my still brief interlude.

And though she is gone
she will forever be remembered
as a kind soul
proudly standing
for every single thing
she believed in.
