the full symphony

standing in windows looking out
rather than in
that place we’d once been wanting
tracing fingers against the glass
in that haphazard attempt
of reaching out

but the barrier is known
and the music from the other side
had to travel through so much glass
and we’ll never hear it in full

or so we thought

now we attend the procession
with the full symphony behind
its cacaphonic tones
echoing in our ears
